"The fibre properties of SRS® mohair are very different to the fleeces of traditionally bred Angora goats. The fibres are finer in micron and coil gently in a highly aligned and narrow staple. The individual fibres are longer for the same growth period, more uniform in cylindrical shape, with a lower curvature and resistance to compression, imparting highly desirable processing qualities.
Unlike traditional Angora goats, SRS® Angora goats are bred for resilience, high birth weights, higher survival rates, robust frames, and to produce at least 10% of bodyweight in fine micron fleece annually. Animal welfare is the paramount breeding criterion."
